gemarsh says "Needs Teepads Badly! Looks like they may be working on this. A few impressive holes are here, but if you want a course to play every day, this one will put you in the ER. Brutal trek on the back nine ...moreon the ravine's hillside. Having to hike down the hillside about 200 ft. to the tee for hole #15, only to throw 475 ft. back up it, was not enjoyable. that is what this course needs..... a layout for more enjoyable play.Although experienced players living in the area would accept the challenge, newcomers to the game would not want to jump on the disc golf bandwagon, after being pummeled by this beast. Some surroundings were cool. Hole # 11 (I believe) is the trademark hole for the course. BEAUTIFUL 45 degree shot ( teeeing from beside an old stone structure) about 475 ft. down the hillside, across the road, and down into the ravine bottom. Old stone steps winding down the hill also. Holes #9 and #4 were a couple of other of my favorites as well....less"
tintownsnake says "This course seemed to play better when the tee pads were not used. Slipping in the litter boxes(tee pads) was very common. The land this course is on was very nice and demanding. After playing this co...moreurse it felt like I had just played 27 holes. This was due to all of the walking in between holes. I could see a new person not wanting to play disc golf if this was there only availible course. Some holes have little to no openings. The old buildings and hillsides were awesome. Plenty of benches. I think not only is your "A" game a must but a lucky rabbits foot wouldn't hurt either....less"
dave says "This is such a great course, It has everything your looking for in a disc golf course and then some. Bill, You guys did a great job, And I speak for all of us when I say, The city owes you one. Thanks...more. The course seems to make me a better player, Not at this course yet, But when I go else were to play. It's a tuff one to tame, But I'll keep throwin till I do....less"
chris84 says "heres a situation were putting a discgolf course in a city park was definately an improvement to the park, and thats especially true in this park as from what i have been told it had fallen into disre...morepair and neglect and had been taken over by gangs and drug dealers, what the local discgolfers in cooperation with the park services have managed to do with this park is downright impressive ! this is my style of course, not to open, not to rediculasly long ( except those last few holes you guys put in, those are confidence crushers !! LOL ) and very well laid out with lots of elevation changes, right turning, left turning and straight fairways, you even managed to find some cool old park benches and positioned them around the course, which were nice for a rest as this course is definately a workout, this course reminds me alot of lincoln park course in massillon, which is my favorite course, i would give this course a perfect score if it had the teepads and a little more of the under grouth cut back some, mind you these arnt critcism as what you have done already in such a short time is awesome and comendable and as i also realize it is still a work in progress, im sure its just a matter of time before this course is at its full potential, it would be nice to see the city bring back the rest of the park to what it once was as well, like reopening the pool and maybe redeveloping the picknick areas, as this is one of the prettiest parks ive seen and definatley a place that the locals should be proud of, i am looking foward to coming back for more rounds - dc ( discfunctional chris )...less"
gero says "This course was recently completed as far as baskets being put in. The tee signs are still being installed and will be completed soon. We had the good fortune of meeting BILL ROHREY and ED NOBLE, who ...moredesigned the course and have done all the work with the help of a few others. They did a remarkable job of using and featuring existing structures and terrain. The course is in the woods of a ravine with a small creek running down the middle of it all. The creek has to be crossed numerous times, but the layout provides plenty of easy places to do so. The creek itself is on a fairly steep grade so the water should never be to deep for very long. There are plenty of uphill, downhill, across hill, and any other kind of hill shot imaginable, and they are all in the woods. The amount of work put into clearing trees, hauling gravel and just doing the layout is much appreciated and respected. Hopefully some locals from Stuebenville will get involved and take the load off the few so they to can enjoy this awesome course. I highly recommend this course for anyone that can handle hiking in the woods. Hiking boots and bug stuff are suggested because the course is a hike in the woods with wildlife and great scenery. Also bring a camera. There is a playground in the park and I believe some portapotties....less"
i4x4inmud says "Beatty Park disc golf course now has all 18 holes in play....please come and play......you won't be disappointed."
willohio says "This park is smack dab in the middle of a hilly ravine carved out centuries ago by glaciers and streams. It is a very picturesque place. The park, which fell into disuse for many, many years is fina...morelly seeing a resurgence, thanks in no small part to the disc golf course, which is now its main feature.
The layout of the course is well thought out. The holes, while not hard do provide a challenge (if this is your first time ignore the mandatory boundaries and just play). There are a lot of steep angled, or blind shots. But all(that are *finished) are great. Most play up the sweeping and dynamic terrain and some really old and historic relics from the by-gone era of the parks earlier days. (An abandoned swimming pool, old stone remains of picnic tables and pavilions, stone bridge built in 1884 and surrounding channels, sealed cisterns and a linear walk up, up and up.)
The tee's have big, colorful illustrated plaques showing the hole#, par, and mandatories (if any). And there is a gravel Tee-off area for each of the holes.
I'm looking forward to playing again when the park is complete.
*I say all that are finished, because the course (while listing 18, is not quite there yet). 13 are complete. 1 more has a basket and a stick showing the T-marker....less"
whathmmcomeagain says "This course is nice. I've played at it about 5 or 6 times, but it's not fully finished yet. They only started the project this past summer, and they have holes up to about 16 or so, but the tee boxes ...moreand signs stop at about 13. The course stretches over a long area, so it's not for the out of shape or people with short legs. Plus it is very hilly, so some points you are walking up steep inclines or down them. The first 6 holes are fairly close together, and also the easiest, so if you don't want to walk too much, or aren't that great, just keep playing the first 6. And if you plan on playing in the summer time, where pants (it is about 5 degrees cooler in the park because its pretty much in a forest) and bug spray....less"
