mrhoversten923 says "I have made the hour drive to Dover twice now and I can honestly say this is the best course I have ever played and I have played several in 3 different states. I play most holes from the white tee (...moreintermediate) so that is what I am commenting on unless specified otherwise. Lots to talk about so here goes:

The Course:
18 challenging holes in a picturesque setting. A real nice pond, very well maintained park, lots of nice trees, a swimming pool (with tons of amazing looking girls by the way), rolling hills, and most importantly, amazing signs on each hole. Each sign has a picture of what you see standing on the tee with an arrow pointing to the basket. All obstacles, every tree, is accounted for on the sign with distance clearly marked. Each hole has 2 or 3 tees to throw from.

The Holes:
Hole 1: {Par 5 on white/blue} The red tee (beginner) is about 450' but beginner or not, you have to throw from the white (intermediate) or blue (pro) tees. I throw from the white tees which on hole 1 is 802'. I didnt even see the blue tee to your left in the back corner but I played that in my 2nd round, an amazing 976' par 5 which I am proud to say I parred. Even if you are a beginner, you have to play from the white tee on this hole just to say you played an 800+' hole. Also, you cant see the basket from the tees (any of them) so there is a big arrow on a yellow sign which is attached to the basket's pole pointing right at the basket. Look across the field, you cant miss it. Also, dont miss left on this hole. The closer you can stay to the road (without being on the road, its OB) the better. If you miss left and have to go down the hill, the rest of your throws are uphill so your normal 300' throws only go 220'. Not good on an 800' hole.

Hole 2: {Par 3} I am still trying to figure out the best way to tee this hole off. I birdied it from the red tee the other day but the hole is at the bottom of a hugely steep hill, straight down. If you throw hard, the disc flies right by, if you throw soft, it hooks left too hard. I threw a forehand softly but it went way right and it took a miracle putt from behind a bush to get my birdie.

Hole 3: {par 3} A challenging hole because if your disc sails left you will be on the road, thus out-of-bounds. Keep your disc right and you are fine. Very difficult to get in 3 from the blue tee. A good drive will give you a birdie from the red tee.

Hole 4: One of the most scenic holes with the epicenter of the park, a walkway, pond, fountain, trees, and incredibly frustrating. Again, throwing downhill so your disc will go more left than usual as it will be in the air longer. Well protected basket, surrounded by trees and a small mound that hides it.

Hole 5: Challenging downhill, right to left hole. Little difficult because it is right along a parking area and pavillion and I am always throwing conservative because I dont want to risk hitting anyone.

Hole 6: Cant find the white tee for this hole. Blue hole is extremely challenging, red hole is way up in the woods, not too challenging from there but very much an uphill shot.

Hole 7: The biggest challenge if you throw from any tee but red. You are completely lined with trees on your right and left. To your left, if your disc fades too much left, is a huge dropoff which will make it impossible to save par. If you are fortunate enough to have a drive that clears all the trees and fades into the clearing where the basket is, you have to pray your disc doesnt roll down the huge hill. My friend had a drive that landed 25 ft from the basket, his putt hit the chains and ended up more than 100 ft from the basket because it rolled down the hill.

Hole 8: Very challenging hole. Slightly downhill, fairly straight but trees everywhere. Par is good here.

Hole 9: If you can throw a forehand, you can birdie this hole. A good distance, about 320ft if i remember correctly, where the path is straight and then at the end hooks right. Dont miss right because the woods are thick and there is poison ivy and prickers.

Hole 10: A long, beautiful drive from the blue tee. In addition, the blue tee is right next to the pool. And I dont know what is in the water in Dover, but the girls are incredible. You will get checked out so enjoy. :)

The rest: An insanely long, diagonal across a huge rolling hills par 5 that is more than 800'. The next hole is called "Top of the World". It is a 600' par 3 which sounds insane but you are throwing from the top of a mountain basically. Its worth the drive just to watch your disc soar for what seems an eternity. Little tip though...throw your straightest disc, even if its a putter. If your disc hooks left, you wont get to watch it fly because there are a lot of trees to your left and right. Hole 17 is a straight shot, about 250' with a 15' wide path through trees. A great challenge.

cburke says "This is an excellent newer course in Dover, OH. Dover is off of Interstate 77 South of Canton and North of Cambridge. Somewhat difficult to find if you've never been to the course, but well worth it.<...morebr />
This course is as difficult as you want to make it. There are three different tee boxes. Red tees I'm guessing are for amateurs / beginners. The White tees seem to be for seasoned players as they add some distance to the Red tees as well as different placement. The Blue tees I'm pretty sure were designed by a madman. If you can par the course from the Blue tees you are probably a Pro.

The facilities are pretty good. The grass is well maintained, there are bathrooms and pavilions to stop and eat as well. Some of the holes suffer from muddiness after rainy days. Also 12,13 and 14 get some water runoff after rainy days making the ground very soft and footing poor.

As far as bringing the family I would say go ahead. It's a bit difficult if the family wants to play and they're beginners, but it is a public park and there are plenty of things to do and space to do them in. Swimming pool, baseball diamond, fields a plenty. Let the kids run themselves down and your ride home will be quieter.

Crowd size has up to this point not been an issue for me. I usually arrive before Noon and several times I have been alone. On my way back to the car I usually see several cars from people coming later. My advice would be come early, as this seems to be a popular course. Overall though I would not think that crowds would be an issue at this course.

The scenery isn't bad, it's not as good as some courses (Lobdell, Pike Lake). There are some nice holes, but others run along the side of hill near peoples homes. The scenery isn't terrible though, and most people will be fine with it.

Overall an excellent course. Highly recommended.

enix says "This is nice no matter what your skill level is. The best part is on those hot days you can go swimming when your done = )"

dizzydevo says "Even from playing just the red tee's I was challenged from the word go. It provides a great learning challenge for the beginner and is clearly marked with navigation signs you can see and they point i...moren the right direction. We will see over time if these withstand the test. I would like to see cement tee pads installed as that would put the icing on the cake.

The Course offers 3 tee's for each hole Red novice, White Advanced, Blue Pro so pick your poison and be prepared to have fun. Major elevation changes and open fields with good tree lines along the fairways give way to a good workout while playing. Deis Hill Park has a good family atmosphere so bring the kids. Being newly installed in '07 it will be the one to pave the way for bigger courses to come.

There are several long holes, and equally as many tough technical holes that will ha...moreve you driving straight into a tree at max velocity if you don't bring your A game. Playing this course will make your score at Spiker drop significantly.

The course is brand new... the grass hasn't even grown into the pole holes yet. The grass is well kept, as the course winds through the only park in Dover. The park crew has done a very good job of clearing a lot of the big brush around the holes, but there is still a great deal of low brush in the trees that needs to be beaten down. There's quite a bit of poison ivy as well, so be on the lookout. There are at least two water fountains on the course, and there is a well kept restroom at the top of the big hill.

This is a course you must play if you're in the NE Ohio area. Oh, also, there are no crowds. You will often find yourself as the only person on the course.

ryanbeach says "Very family oriented and great for getting away to test your mad skills."

dankilgore says "I was on the design team. And given the land that we we're allowed to use, I think we did a pretty darn good job in making it fair and challenging to all skill levels [as their are 3 sets of tees, som...moree only 2. ]

holes #12 and #13 are being changed to accomadate some safety and property issues as of 9/4/07.

This park offers the kind of land that most of us Disc Golfers dream of having a course laid out in. Very steep rolling hills, long holes, fast greens, and a couple of holes to where you might opt to empty your bag.

Watch your speed when traveling through Dover as the police are pretty strict.

I believe that in due time this course will be one of most everyone's top favorites. The park director is very Disc Golf friendly and wants this course to work. ( remember Disc Golfers you are a guests at these parks and should try to be on your best behavior. Pack out your garbage and keep this course looking beautifull)

hakker says "I would like to say that the NEW 18 hole disc golf course in Dover (1/2 hour south of Canton) has to be the most challenging and well designed course in the state of Ohio. It will be in the PDGA cours...moree directory soon. It is a combination of Oak Ledges in Massillon, Lakeshore in Ashtabula and has a touch of Mt. Airy in Cincinnati. It has 3 tee positions on most of the holes. The White (Adv) tees are over 8000' while the Blue will push it well over 9000'. There are novice Red tees as well. What a beast of a course! Leaning greens, tight holes, open holes, extreme elevation changes, nasty rough, O.B.'s, etc... It will challenge every part of your game, especially the mental part. When you play it you will say WOW !!!!!...less"

thadon says "Some of the longest holes I've seen. Well over 9,000 feet of disc golf . Alot of hyzers and uphill shots. Offer 3 tees for just about each hole. There is nice little pond , and public pool along t...morehe course. I've now played the majority of the NE ohio courses, and i must this park is probably the most quite and peaceful. Drop the kids off @ the pool and go play!...less"

dandavis says "sick course"

gemarsh says "Tricky lies make this course very challenging. 900ft. + holes f you like to grip & rip, to nice wooded holes (may be getting another soon). Uphill shots & downhill shots, will test you."

renohaney says "The Dover course at Deis Hill Park is a true gem in Ohio disc golf. Even though I'm not an experienced player and have only seen a handful or courses, Dover really does stand out. The course has a m...moreix of open holes and wooded holes and is situated on a big hill making the terrain tricky at times. There a three tees for the majority of the course.
