paulyoung says "Maybe this was the off-season? The course may be designed well, but it felt like the state park was falling apart around it. So many trees had fallen. The disc golf placard at hole 1 had bats sleep...moreing in it. And everywhere there were wasps, gnats, and horseflies -- and they didn't care if you'd sprayed yourself with Off. Playing the course was no fun. Signs at the tees were helpful, but still many baskets were hidden. The fairway for basket 8 was a trafficked roadway. I've seen and played much better courses in Ohio -- this one's simply not worth the drive....less"

Reviews

cburke says "Pike Lake State Park Wildcat Hollow Disc Golf Course is definitely one of the nicer courses that I have played in Ohio. If you are in the area to play at Great Seal State Park, I would recommend stopp...moreing here too.

This course will probably be difficult for some. Foliage of some kind comes into play on pretty much every hole. Many holes have multiple tee positions which adds nice variety. If you throw right-hand backhand, expect more of a challenge; lefties will find that some of the holes are tailor made for them.

The facilities are pretty good. The restrooms and parking for the course are well placed at the turn between holes nine and ten. On my most recent trip, I found that some of the holes had trees that were downed directly in front of some of the tees and trees downed in other areas that I don't think was in the original course design. There is a "pro shop" of sorts, although on my most recent trip they didn't have much of a selection of discs or amenities. There is food to be had however and the park employees are very nice.

This park is a great place to bring family that doesn't play disc golf. There is a campground, fishing, playground, boating and probably more things to do that I didn't see. There is enough here to make a weekend camping trip out of it with some disc golf thrown in for good measure.

I didn't have to wait long to play either of the two times I have been here, but I saw others that had to wait to play. Be aware that large groups of people play here together and that it is a popular course. All of the disc golfers I encountered here were very nice however and I can't imagine having to wait very long if you do have to wait.

The scenery is very nice, especially after a recent rain. There are a couple of creeks that run through the course and come into play on several holes. The forest is very pretty and if you are into taking in your surroundings and being away from the city for a while, this is an excellent course to play.

Overall this is a four basket course. It's not perfect, some of the course pars were a little off and the bathrooms weren't anything to write home about. Crowd size could be an issue, but probably won't and the scenery is very nice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a trip to this course.

fortay says "Played this course, loved it, and played it twice more. Many holes are unique. Many long (300+') through a narrow hallway of mean trees. Most holes have alternate tees, but most of the long tees aren'...moret totally overwhelming. A beautiful course, a nice hike. This is my new favorite course. Some ace and duece chances....less"

xelto says "I wanted to rate this course a five. I really did. But I almost rated it a three in the end. It has some wonderful holes— number 12 is probably the best one I've seen on any course anywhere (swee...morep down with a couple streams, then around a large hill— wonderful design). But it seemed like the designers were never content unless they were pushing the edge. If there was a hill around, you went up, down, or along it. If there was a small hill by where the basket was to go, it obviously went on the hill, right? It couldn't go next to the hill. And if you're going to have a shot over a river, then the basket must go three feet from the river's edge. Oh, and most of the shots should be blind shots that only the regulars know where they are.

Individually, these were great holes. Don't get me wrong. I loved most of them, and didn't have any serious dislike holes. But all together, they were annoying as I chased another frisbee down the hill... another near-miss bouncing into the water... another "well the path goes that way, so that's where I'm throwing" shot.

mcoppel says "What a course, carved into an amazing area, the hike alone is worth playing. Course also offers a good range of holes and other activities."

illionisdiscing says "I am from Illionis and had the pleasure of playing at this couse on Friday as well as on sunday. Friday Jeff Melton and his wife tammy took us out and showed us the course and i was overly impressed ...moreat how well maintianed it was as well as how beautiful and difficult it was. This was the first course I have played in Ohio and it was a great way to start. The course gives you everything, elevation, technique, open, and distance. It is overall a great course....less"

wyattadams says "This course is pretty much the best course I have played on, except when I had to climb up a cliff to get my disc down."

zebulun says "Great park, challenging and awesome shop!"

briancray says "The manager of Pike Lake is a disc golfer himself, and has done much to help keep the course nice. Most of the course is through the woods with unique shots and great elevation changes.

...more The best part about this course is the nice /night cabins to stay in while you're out there. There are nice hiking trails and a nice fishing lake at the park....less"

JTMelton says "I love this course. Nice elevation changes, turns and distances. The staff at this park are great! Constant improvements are done. Last year a shelter house for tournaments was built, garbage ca...morens put on various holes and benches places at several holes. This year new tee signs are being installed along with some longer and shorter tees. So some holes will have 1 tee, some with 2 and some with 3 once all is completed. Also the park manager is looking into tee pads to get rid of the mulch....less"
