This isn't a bad course if you live in my area considering it is only a 9 hole course. It's a decent course for practicing different shots as there is some variety. It is located on Muskingum College campus right in the middle of New Concord. The tees are concrete but unfortunately there are no at the tee boxes. The baskets are numerically marked, which makes this linear course not too difficult to navigate.
It isn't a terribly difficult course, many of the holes are fairly short. Hole 3 is well over 400 feet though, and Hole 8 is definitely over 300. If you are just learning the game, this woul be a good course to begin on. There are left and right hooking shots, as well as up hill and down hill shots.
This isn't really a place to bring kids as far as extracuricular activities go. There is a small pond/lake nearby, which provides relaxing fishing as well as feeding ducks. The short course though would provide a good place to teach children.
The scenery isn't that great. If you're looking for a quiet walk in the woods, look elsewhere. There are roads all around and campus housing is nearby. The small pond/lake does provide some scenery, but overall the scenery isn't that great.
There are no facilities to speak of really. No pro shop, no restrooms that I know of and no place to sit and rest between rounds. Well there is one bench set under a tree near the parking, but it looks more like a "cute" decoration than an actual place to regroup which really shouldn't be needed for a course of this size anyway.
The crowd size is actually not bad at all. I have played this course half a dozen times and I have never seen anyone else playing. I imagine that during the Spring and Autumn quarters when more students are on campus, there are more people playing. During this summer I have yet to see anyone.
Muskingum College DGC: short, not difficult, but a good place to practice your short game.
